Easy Like Sunday Morning
There is nothing quite like that first hour of a summer morning before the rest of the house—and the world—starts making demands. Whether it’s the way the light hits the porch or just the fact that the sun got up before the chaos did, that quiet moment is where my real recalibration happens.
I’ll be the first to admit it: I am a coffee-first kind of girl. I need that first hot cup and a silent house to dive into my devotional, Bible study, and journal. It’s my non-negotiable ritual for tending to my soul and getting my heart right before I’m expected to be anything for anyone else. It's just me, the coffee, and Jesus while the world is still.
Then, the feet hit the floor.
As soon as the kids are up, that "mom rush" officially takes over and it’s straight into everything else. Before I know it, I’m fixing breakfast, wrangling dogs, checking the garden, and checking my schedule for the day. That’s why that first hour is so vital—I have to fill my own cup, spiritually and literally, before the day demands I start pouring into everyone else.
Let’s swap rituals on the porch:
What’s your "soul-tending" ritual? Are you a coffee-and-Bible-study sister, or do you have another way of finding your footing before the day starts?
What’s in your mug right now? Are we team coffee, team tea, or a little bit of both?
